Did Linus say that ide-scsi was an outdated and no longer needed "patch" ? Did the development team concur ? Have they acted on it ? Should ide/atapi cdrom access allow users to have full use (ripping, burning, reading) of their CDROM ? I am running ide-scsi to allow me to have some control of my cdrom. My syslogs are littered with "depreciated" comments. I've got a few error messages as well. When one runs xcdroast, for example, it urges the user to enable ide- scsi. So... is xcdroast wrong ? K3b seems to work OK without it, bug grip (cdparanoia) seems to have issues.
