FC3 Final: no sound

I upgraded FC3 from FC3rc1 and I don't have sound. The module is 
snd-via82xx, its loaded and the sound config tool detects it but still I 
get no sound. When I try to raise the sound on the volume control applet 
it just goes down. When I try to open the controls I get "Sorry no sound 
devices/elements found"... I removed the module and inserted it again 
but no luck. Everything worked fine with rc1. Anyone having similiar 
problems?
