on that line in grub, do I remove everything after the kernel version?

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.667 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet

as in after the .667?

Greg,

I've seen this same issue on a Dell Latitude C840 with the new Nvidia
6629 with a 2.6.9 vanilla kernel and FC2. I don't think it's specific
to FC3T*.

Best,

Steve

Thanks for the info. The new 6629 nvidia driver works on my Dell 8100 notebook, yet DPMS still doesn't work. It used to work in FC2.

The 6629 driver does NOT work on my Compaq R3000z. The previous version did work ok but 6629 has a majorly messed up screen upon starting X.

Anyone else having troubles with the NVIDIA driver on an R3000Z??

well I'm glad you posted this, I have a C840 and was just getting ready
to try the nvidia instead of nv, think I'll hold off... thanks.

well, I went ahead and did it anyway, the driver works fine, but I have
to boot to runlevel 3 then startx manually.

I would prefer to have my gdm back with my nice gnome login, but if I
change my runlevel back to 5 then I get no joy, lot's of strange errors.

so I can't put runlevel 5 back in inittab...any ideas what I could do to
get my gdm back with the new drivers? (they are nice btw, all my gl
stuff is very fast now.)

thanks in advance.

just a thought, but did you take rhgb off your grub menu? I did that, and I can use my gdm with no problem.

Jim

I took just the rhgb off, , I still have quiet and everything else there. boots in run level 5, no problem.
