USB PERMISSIONS

I just installed a USB Iomega Zip-100 drive on my FC3T3 box and I can 
read and copy files from the disk but can't write to  it.  I checked the 
permissions and it lists the user as the owner and group. however the 
user can't write to it and neither can root.  It just gives the arror 
message you don't have permission  to write to this folder. Where would 
the permissions have to be changerd?  I tried /udev and /dev both say 
the permission is there.
