This sounds like the recent X/rhgb bug. Remove rhgb from the boot
command line, and see if it solves the problem.  If so, update
your xorg/rhgb packages, and it should be fixed.

My T23 hangs at random places during the boot process if I boot with kernel 2.6.9-1.640. rhgb is nowhere to be seen. Sometimes it will get as far as starting the graphical login, then can only be brought back with a power-off restart. 2.6.8-1.603 treats me much better.
