Ok well unfortunately I cannot get either image to boot on my Raspberry Pi 5.
I was able to get an older image to work if that helps.

Thanks a lot for the testing! That issue doesn't look like it relates
to how the images are built, so out of scope for the thing I'm
concerned about here. I hope upstream can help fix it.
