This was made a blocker by FESCo due to the reputational impact it would have in the gaming community. Linking contacts results in two identifcal contacts with the information from both originals. After restarting Contacts, the original contacts are restored to their original states. Filed upstream as https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-contacts/-/issues/247 .
