Unable to boot flash drive to test Fedora 31 Beta on Dell Inspiron

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I have created my bootable flash drive as usual, with Fedora Media Writer and I can actually see the type of boot screen (Start Fedora, test the media, troubleshooting) and after selecting any of the options I see a frozen black screen. No error messages and I can only reboot by pressing the power button (Ctrl+Alt+DEL don't work).

It is the same with my Dell notebook and on a Frankenstein desktop that I have at work. The result is the same for Workstation and NetInst.

Dell Inspiron 15 5567 CPU: Intel Core i7-7500U

GPU: AMD Radeon R7 M445 (2GB GDDR5)

Display: 15.6”, Full HD (1920 x 1080),

IPS Storage: 1000GB HDD

RAM: 8GB DDR4, 2400 MHz

I have a Bz ticket open here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753033

And a thread at ask.fedora (https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/unable-to-boot-flash-drive-to-test-fedora-31-beta/3410) where I:

  • Have tried 2 different USB sticks
  • Used Fedora Media Writer, Rufus and dd to create the media
  • Checked the hash of the downloaded image of F31 Beta
  • Conformed that F30 and F30 respin are starting correctly from the same USB sticks
