Hi, I have upgraded this system to the "latest" from the rawhide repo and rebooted the system. MUCH to my surprise, startx failed to do anything. NO messages... I found that the /bin/startx file has 0 bytes in it and several of the files from imake. See below. -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jul 13 19:36 ccmakedep -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jul 13 19:36 mergelib -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jul 13 19:36 xmkmf -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jul 15 11:34 startx Last metadata expiration check: 2:15:36 ago on Wed 25 Jul 2018 12:44:00 PM PDT. imake-1.0.7-12.fc29.x86_64 : imake source code configuration and build system Repo : @System Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/ccmakedep imake-1.0.7-12.fc29.x86_64 : imake source code configuration and build system Repo : rawhide Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/ccmakedep Last metadata expiration check: 2:15:39 ago on Wed 25 Jul 2018 12:44:00 PM PDT. imake-1.0.7-12.fc29.x86_64 : imake source code configuration and build system Repo : @System Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/mergelib imake-1.0.7-12.fc29.x86_64 : imake source code configuration and build system Repo : rawhide Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/mergelib Last metadata expiration check: 2:15:43 ago on Wed 25 Jul 2018 12:44:00 PM PDT. xorg-x11-xinit-1.4.0-2.fc29.x86_64 : X.Org X11 X Window System xinit startup scripts Repo : @System Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/startx xorg-x11-xinit-1.4.0-2.fc29.x86_64 : X.Org X11 X Window System xinit startup scripts Repo : rawhide Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/startx Last metadata expiration check: 2:15:46 ago on Wed 25 Jul 2018 12:44:00 PM PDT. imake-1.0.7-12.fc29.x86_64 : imake source code configuration and build system Repo : @System Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/xmkmf imake-1.0.7-12.fc29.x86_64 : imake source code configuration and build system Repo : rawhide Matched from: Filename : /usr/bin/xmkmf I was able to resolve the problem temporarily by using the Fedora 28 versions of imake, xorg-x11-xinit, and xorg-x11-xinit-session. Has anyone seen anything like this?
