By the way, I forgot to mention that this Live was the 32bit one.
In the meantime, I've also tried with Xfce (always 32bit) and the textual[1] initial-setup popped up, as expected.

[1]: we already knew that there are racy conditions which sometimes make the graphical interface start and sometimes show the textual one instead.
