i ran across this issue trying to build a basic linux image with
yocto project and asked about it here:

but i just verified that i get the same error trying to build
ncurses-5.9 on my fully-updated rawhide system. here's my gcc:
$ gcc --version

and here's the output from doing an absolutely stock configure and
make with the pristine ncurses-5.9 source:

... snip ...

../ncurses/lib_gen.c -o ../objects/lib_gen.o

this appears to coincide with the arrival of gcc-5.0.0. thoughts?
