  extra info i just noticed ... when i browsed to localhost:631 and
tried to add a printer, i got "Forbidden", and when i checked the
output of:

  $ systemctl status cups

i read:

... Returning HTTP Forbidden for CUPS-Get-Devices (no URI)...lhost
... CUPS-Get-Devices request failed with status 401: Forbidden

i have no idea what that means ... what exactly is being forbidden
here?
