for the sake of drupal, i tried to start the mariadb.service and, if
i'm reading this correctly, the mariadb-related scripts in
/usr/libexec are failing due to the following line in some of them:
source ./mariadb-scripts-common
claiming that script can't be found. but if i replace those lines with
an absolute reference to that same script:
source /usr/libexec/mariadb-scripts-common
that solves the problem. does that make any sense? what's the running
environment for sourcing those scripts?
