So maybe this isn't the same > thing. Just happened again. Monitor woke up, black screen with mouse pointer. I could move the mouse pointer, but that's all. Switched to VC, ran debuginfo-install gnome-shell, waited for download. Suddenly, the screen flickered, and the screen lock's password prompt appeared, but didn't accept any input (neither mouse nor keyboard). Attaching gdb to gnome-shell process was a bad idea.
