Today I started VLC playing a few hours' worth of MP3s.
Eventually the display froze on a screensaver.
The music played on for an hour or more after I powered down the display.
When I returned the display had lost signal. Hitting the shift key resored
a video signal. The screen was mostly blank, just a few characters at
the upper left.
Ctel-Alt-F2 followed by three finger salute rebooted the machine.
Intel 3770K and Nvidia GTX 670.
