Same behavior with 4.2.10.
I can boot into the console ("3" on kernel cmdline) and CD access stops and nothing uses any CPU. It seems X related, but I cannot open any programs to debug it.
FWIW, I didn't do any debugging. I did experience slowness but my goal was to install since my DVD download got corrupted (my fault). Once installed and Guest Additions installed all works fine.
Just now I installed SCO OpenDesktop 5.07 and XP on VirtualBox 4.12 and
Fedora 19 (freshly updated).
Both installs whizzed along, far faster than I recall seeing on real
hardware.
BTW I have not been able to install the SCO under qemu or kvm.
