Installed with F18 anaconda from local rawhide mirror using pxeboot:
Gnome still dies with something gone wrong.
KDE install crashes Anaconda if too much asked for.
A less ambitious install yields a functioning KDE desktop.
(I disable selinux and rhgb quiet)
I was then able to install xfce.
