Also, FWIW, when I installed the 3.8.1 kernel on a VM the compile of the VBox guest additions failed when VBox 4.2.6 (from Oracle) was installed.  I needed to update to 4.2.8 to get it to work.  I don't see any 4.2.8 updates in fusion.  Not even in testing.

I now have the 3.8.1 kernel installed on my host system as well with Vbox 4.2.8 from Oracle.  All is well after an initial scare.  My system hung during the kernel update process and I had to do a bunch of re-installs and I had to download the kernel packages from koji since the mirrors yum kept accessing hadn't been sync'd yet.

A "fun" afternoon.  :-) :-)    Still, in the back of my mind, I wonder if a residual problem may be waiting to bite me.
