I actually prefer having /tmp on tmpfs, since it's extremely fast and is intrinsically temporary (at least for non-servers that reboot regularly) without requiring a tmpwatch cronjob to clean it out. I've been manually switching my /tmp to tmpfs for years, and even submitted a bug ~4 years ago -- https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472127 -- to add tmpfs as a fs OPTION in anaconda for install-time setup. Making it default is one better, imo (period).
