Thank you sir! and all that have helped/answered this thread. The error is that the bootloader in this case calls /dev/root, while the older kernel calls

root=UUID=11803751-9c77-4e25-96d8-daa772b53e5c

I changed the /dev/root in Grub Boot Loader interactively and the new kernel booted.

[olivares@E-213-5W ~]$ uname -r
3.6.2-2.fc18.i686
[olivares@E-213-5W ~]$ uname -a
Linux E-213-5W 3.6.2-2.fc18.i686 #1 SMP Wed Oct 17 06:36:31 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Now I have to change the line in grub via grub interactively and see that it fixes it and make a change somewhere so that subsequent kernel upgrades update correctly and not put '/dev/root' in there.

----------------------------------------------------

I am changing the /dev/root to the UUID mentioned above run
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
again and see if that cures the problem and subsequent problems with kernel updates.

Best Regards,

Antonio
