With NV3x adapters experiencing 3D screen corruption in F16/F17, and the
abysmal gnome-shell performance of nvidia's 173.14.35 driver, I
attempted a yum upgrade to rawhide for a look at Mesa-8.1, which I
understand has a new driver. Unfortunately, that installation won't
start up.
So, I've built Mesa-8.1-devel (and libdrm) from git on F17. It looks
better, but there are issues. The login screen still has corruption,
the shell has some rendering problems, I get lots of drm errors, and
control-center crashes every time I try to open it.
I have this hardware, and I'll help get things shipshape for F18, but
I'm going to need some guidance on how to proceed...
