No optical drive found???

Greetings:

Is anyone else getting this problem in rawhide?

No optical drive found.
K3b did not find any optical device in your system.
Solution: Make sure HAL daemon is running, it is used by K3b for finding devices.

In using gnome-tweak-tool, I have nautilus displayed on the desktop, so I can see that the blank cd-r is there...

this is a major issue for me, and I would like to know how to workaround this? Is there a cli command to take everything is a certain directory and write a data disc from it? I have no problems creating a data disc from command line if it is possible...
