That isn't actually a kernel boot parameter.  If you set something on the
kernel command line and the kernel doesn't parse it, it turns into an
environment variable that is passed to PID 1.  You can see that if you do:

sudo cat /proc/1/environ

Aside from editing your grub command line and that file and setting it to
what you want, I wouldn't know the answer to your question.  I just wanted to
point out the slightly incorrect assertion before people went all crazy and
decided to file kernel bugs for this.
