"Wireless not available"

Once I reenable the Wireless after disabling it I get "wireless not
available" and can only get it to work by killing NetworkManager and
restarting it. It also happens with some Sony Vaio laptop with module
acer_wmi (?in a Sony?) and ar9285 (

)

In my case it is with iwl3945 and hp_wmi, on a HP Pavilion dv6000.

Preliminary tests seem to indicate that if hp_wmi is rmmoded while the
wireless is enabled everything works as expected -- so I'm guessing
blacklisting it will work as well.

Any pointers towards fixing this with a better solution than
blacklisting hp_wmi ?
