For the record:
I ran yum -y update and rebooted. Now the auto-mounter works.
I didn't try to reboot before the yum update; maybe that would have done it, too.

Tried yum install rcpbind but it didn't make a difference.
autofs config files as on a Fedora 15 machine.
/etc/init.d/autofs start is OK
But when I try to cd into an auto-mounted directory the messages above appear in /var/log.
Any hints?
