Well in a University environment you have to put up with that. You can't very well ban USB keys or the use of private laptops, and it wouldn't work anyway.

You just have to keep a close eye on any server students have access to and isolate those as much as possible.

We've had a couple of major outbreakes over the years but they've always been to Windows boxes.
