You can turn off SELinux by adding a kernel param to /etc/grub.conf
Like this: 

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.4-1.300 root=/dev/hda2 ro selinux=0
                                              ^^^^^^^^^

After rebooting, SELinux will be turned off.
