Thanks Jason!  I just tried a rebuild and I finally got a non-ppc build host :)  I've had that this happen to me several times and never stopped to think about why so thanks for the answer.

And your package is noarch, so it gets built on a random host, and
sometimes you get a host that doesn't actually have the packages you
need.

I don't think there's any good workaround.  You can make your package
not noarch and then exclude the architectures where it can't possibly
build.
