Using a single source archive? If so, that has happened in other packages
before.

No. You are free to split off, rename, or obsolete subpackages as
appropriate.

Almost impossible to comment on. Just this:
Those, who claimed that a re-review would be required, have they pointed
you at specific Packaging Guidelines? That would be the interesting part.
