This is a case where rpath usage is acceptable, imo.

Agreed. Some kind of versioned dependency to perl or the library path (but I suppose the latter would cause yum to download filelists) would be a good thing to add so things won't break silently when files are moved around on perl upgrades.

+1 to both the rpath and Ville's suggestion.
