Elinks is a fork where this is just version 2. In the elinks spec file the 'links' symlink is done by the package maintainer in the following code from %install: ln -s elinks $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_bindir}/links ln -s elinks.1 $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_mandir}/man1/links.1 I also noticed that in https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/NamingGuidelines#General_Naming the package name should match upstream tarball where technically possible.
