https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2271634 Ben Beasley <code@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |code@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx --- Comment #8 from Ben Beasley <code@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> --- Just a word of caution about Numba – a new Python minor version is released about the same time as the first Fedora release containing it (e.g. Python 3.13 in Fedora 41). I’ve lost the link, but upstream indicates that three to six months is normally needed after the final release of a new Python minor version for Numba to support it – and since Numba is so tightly coupled to Python internals, this isn’t something we can reasonably help with or patch downstream as we do for many packages. So if we do package Numba, we can expect to have roughly an entire Fedora release cycle where Numba doesn’t support the system Python, each time Python releases a new minor version. Basically, we would have a working Numba package in every other Fedora release, which would wreak havoc on dependent packages. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are always notified about changes to this product and component You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2271634 Report this comment as SPAM: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Bugzilla&format=report-spam&short_desc=Report%20of%20Bug%202271634%23c8 -- _______________________________________________ package-review mailing list -- package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to package-review-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
