https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2263732 Bug ID: 2263732 Summary: Review Request: python-opentelemetry-propagator-aws-xray - AWS X-Ray Propagator for OpenTelemetry Product: Fedora Version: rawhide Hardware: All OS: Linux Status: NEW Component: Package Review Severity: medium Priority: medium Assignee: nobody@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Reporter: code@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx QA Contact: extras-qa@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx CC: package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Target Milestone: --- Classification: Fedora Spec URL: https://music.fedorapeople.org/python-opentelemetry-propagator-aws-xray.spec SRPM URL: https://music.fedorapeople.org/python-opentelemetry-propagator-aws-xray-1.0.1-1.fc39.src.rpm Description: This library provides the propagator necessary to inject or extract a tracing context across AWS services. Fedora Account System Username: music This review doesn’t exactly fall under https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/Package_Renaming_Process/ or even https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/#renaming-or-replacing-existing-packages, but they are somewhat relevant. The binary package produced by this new package, python3-opentelemetry-propagator-aws-xray, is currently built as part of https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-opentelemetry-contrib. The goal of packaging it separately is to split out parts of https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-python-contrib that carry separate version numbers, which complicates the python-opentelemetry-contrib and is particularly a headache for managing the release number in that package; currently, the release needs to increment monotonically forever unless all versions change at once. The python3-opentelemetry-propagator-aws-xray subpackage of python-opentelemetry-contrib will be dropped at the same time this package is imported. To provide a proper upgrade path, the Release number of this package starts at 52, where python-opentelemetry-contrib is currently at 51. I decided that this was less ugly than starting with an Epoch. At the same time, I will adjust the dependencies on python3-opentelemetry-propagator-aws-xray from python3-opentelemetry-instrumentation-aws-lambda and python3-opentelemetry-instrumentation-botocore so that they are no longer fully-versioned (exact version and release as in https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/#_requiring_base_package). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are always notified about changes to this product and component You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2263732 Report this comment as SPAM: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Bugzilla&format=report-spam&short_desc=Report%20of%20Bug%202263732%23c0 -- _______________________________________________ package-review mailing list -- package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to package-review-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-review@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
