I was able to work around this by creating a git-archive of the above and adding it as Source1, then modifying rust-src/bch_bindgen/Cargo.toml to refer to the local copy, i.e. sed -i -e 's#git = "https://evilpiepirate.org/git/rust-bindgen.git"#path = "PATH/TO/rust-bindgen-modified/bindgen"#' rust-src/bch_bindgen/Cargo.toml or similar.
