I mean to find/replace strings in source files one usually uses sed. I've seen perl used for the first time here. I can't see the advantage of using perl over using standard sed. If there was a specific reson to use perl and thus add a build dependency, just mention it somewhere. Otherwise, if there was no advantage of using perl please consider rewriting it with sed.
