I'm assuming that Beta3 is fairly close to a complete rewrite as they've added a lot new features, changed the menus a bit, and they had to add a dbus layer for everything in order to work with BlueZ 3.x. Unfortunately Beta is is REALLY buggy at least in some of it's functionality.
