What about el6, el7?
I get the following on CentOS 6:

$ yum provides "libmpi.so.1"

compat-openmpi-1.4.3-1.2.el6.i686 : Open Message Passing Interface
Repo        : base
Matched from:
Other       : libmpi.so.1

openmpi-1.8.1-1.el6.i686 : Open Message Passing Interface
Repo        : base
Matched from:
Other       : libmpi.so.1
