I don't think they were design to state anything else. If I look at the
milestone on github: https://github.com/marshmallow-code/marshmallow/milestones
I think this confirms that the b stands for beta.

treat it as a pre-release. I am not doing it for the sake of arguing, I just
try to do the thing right. I may, however, misunderstand the guidelines, in
that case, I will be happy to approve this package if you prove me wrong.
