Then I found info that storing plain text passwords for Apache works only for selected platforms. From htpasswd man page: -p Use plaintext passwords. Though htpasswd will support creation on all platforms, the httpd daemon will only accept plain text passwords on Windows and Netware. However, if I remember good, I have not tried this way for check with Apache.
