I'll work on building parallel-installable optimized versions, too. As for building against openblas, this would either have to be a distro-wide switch or we should mandate (via Guidelines change) that all alternative blas/lapack implementation provide a drop-in replacement ABI-compatible libraries for libblas.so.* and liblapack.so.*.
