Orion: Thanks for the LLVM hint. I just have to hope that the situation where
Julia does not support a new version of LLVM which is pushed to the current
release happens...

Regarding the CPU target, indeed core2 is a relatively high requirement. I've
filed and issue: https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues/6715 Do you think it
would be reasonable to still require some recent instruction sets, like SSE (I
guess this one is OK), SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3?...
