Correct ... newlib is supposed not to carry any non-free files. As I wrote
above, except of the linux files, newlib is supposed to be licensed BSDish over
all.

AFAICT, there is only zlib/libpng licensed file:
newlib/libc/sys/linux/include/net/zlib.h

This file uses the same license as GCC's zlib/zlib.h in the FSF's source-tree,
and is only used when building newlib for linux (== newlib w/ GPL)

So either your claim about zlib vs. GPL is wrong or you've found a serious
legal issue in the FSF's GCC source tree and should contact the FSF's legal
persons.
