Right, I've had the same issue with other packages as well. You'll need to
disable the mpich2 package on el6 ppc64. You can do this with rpm macros, e.g.

%global mpich2 1
%ifarch ppc64
%if 0%{?rhel}==5 || 0%{?rhel} == 6
%global mpich2 0
%endif
%endif

and then conditionalize the mpich2 parts with

%if %mpich2
foo
bar
%endif
