@Matthew Garrett: Of course. I think even for other UEFI systems, linux should
export the uefi arch in the system, even if the uefi and kernel arch's mismatch
(i686 kernel in x86_64 uefi) or if nomodeset is used (assuming only runtime
services are disabled, initial uefi stuff is still used by the kernel till the
boot is complete).
