--- Comment #57 from Tim Fenn <fenn@xxxxxxxxxxxx> 2009-11-20 03:23:12 EDT ---
so upon further investigation, guile-gui requires guile-gtk, which has been
replaced by guile-gnome. So guile-gui would need to be updated to use
guile-gnome, which it seems won't happen (even though there is a maintainer, it
seems he isn't working on it actively). Coot allows for the building of guile
support, but not guile-gtk support, which will just disable a bunch of the
extensions. This isn't a big deal, and upstream does have plans to move all
the guile-gtk stuff to use guile-gnome instead, so I'll just flip the switch
when the code is updated to support guile-gnome.

tl;dr: no guile-gui package, disable guile-gtk in coot, lose a few of the
extensions, enable extensions when coot supports guile-gnome.

I'm currently waiting for upstream to implement libcurl support in place of
net-http (the goosh dependency is gone now), then all should be good to go.
Will update when that is done.
