Doing the other way, linking with > glut32, > I could run just fine on windows. What you should do is copy the freeglut DLL to your Windows box. AIUI freeglut is not completely compatible with non-free GLUT, so building / linking against freeglut and then trying to run against real GLUT could cause other problems.
