Xpaint has a long history and combined different parts with different licences, including MIT and GPL. Everything seems to be GPL compatible and I consider all my additions to be GPL whenever this can apply - I don't think there is any issue, but I am not an expert in these legalities... In any case I'll add the text of GPLv2 in the next release and I encourage you to do so for the Fedora package if you feel this is desirable.
