it's the wrong place to argue the toss, and i'm going to change the package,
but i can't resist =)

that's what I thought at first, then I thought 'no, that doesn't quite add up
either'. after all, *non*-pre-release packages don't convey that information in
their evr either. kernel-2.6.31-1.fc12 doesn't give you any information on when
kernel 2.6.31 was released, does it? you have to go look that up somewhere
else. SVN revision 123456 does give you date information just as conveniently
as a version tag in a regular package does - all you have to do is go upstream
and find out when that SVN rev hit.

anyway, yeah, it's not particularly on-topic here. just worries my consistency
bone.
