It should be sufficient to install the Barry package and then do 'pppd call barry-verizon' (or barry-sprint or barry-att_cingular or any one of the others in /etc/ppp/peers in the barry package). I tested this on a couple of Blackberries on Mandriva, when I was packaging Barry there, and it worked fine.
