Alright, looking forward on a new version of your spec file and source.
To have an idea how others do it, have a look at for example:

http://www.cora.nwra.com/~orion/fedora/amanda.spec

I like the way they defined an user/group:
%{!?amanda_user:%define amanda_user amandabackup}
%{!?amanda_group:%define amanda_group disk}

It's ok to have a suid binary if it is required.
